Regaining perspective

The traditional media and the blogosphere have both been taken by the Sarah Palin story since Friday with little timeouts for news about the hurricanes and whether or not the RNC convention will be delayed or cancelled. Lovo sets us straight in a diary titled "I am angry":

There is a story about two rival stage actresses. They bickered that they could outdo each other until one said, "I can upstage you without even being on the stage." The second actress took the bet and that evening, she poured her soul into a long, dramatic monolgue. The audience was spellbound and she believed she'd won the bet. When she finished, the audience did not clap. As it turned out, the first actress, after speaking her short line, left a full glass of champagne hanging halfway off the edge of the table. The audience spent the entire monologue waiting to see if the glass would fall or not.

And this is where we are. Obama pouring his soul into his campaign and mccain making a joke as we watch to see if that glass will fall off the table.

I think he's got it right.
